Spending for tires is a piece of cake, but choosing the correct tires for your car is a big deal. Not everyone gives enough importance to tires, but if you want to be the wiser man, this article will be a lending hand. Car tires need replacement at least every four years. There are some basic differences among tire types ranging from noise, dry/wet braking, resistance, traction, and comfortability.

To be able to choose the correct tire for the correct purpose, you will need to do a simple checklist before running to a tire shop.
Know the Right Size
P216/60R14 92T
This number and letter combination represents the recommended measurements for the wheels of automotive. You may either find this in the manual which came when you bought the vehicle.

The first part of the sequence P216/60R14 refers to the dimensions of the tires. For example, 60R14 is smaller than 60R16. The second part of the sequence, 92T, indicates the load index vs. the maximum speed, which tells how much weight your tire can carry.

Choose the Correct Type
  • All-season tires which usually is the cheapest and most practical pick is good for long drives and any kinds of weather. Rating: S-, T-
  • Performance all-season tires have better grip than all-season tires but do not last long. It usually comes with the latest models of vehicles sold. Rating: H-, V-
  • Ultra-high-performance all-season and summer tires as good as it sounds are best for sports cars and high performance four wheel drives. Rating: ZR-, W-, Y-
  • All season and all-terrain truck tires are the big wheels. These type of tires are usually used for hauling and towing, which provides good support for off-road traction. Rating: A/T
  • Winter/Snow Tires are for specifically for this type of weather. You usually need to replace all four wheels to receive optimum function. This type of tires has no ratings, but they would be seen with a snowflake and mountain image.

Think About Your Preference
Of course, it all comes down to your decision. Are you choosing to buy new tires depending on your budget or on your car’s performance? Try to reflect well on what will suit your resources and your needs. Before you make a switch, it is always better to research more to be able to choose the right tire.

But, since spending for tires is not that cheap, always make sure to stay protected with insurance. I agree that you want to check the type of tire before you choose it. It would make seems to find someone who is qualified and experienced as well. My husband and I are looking for new tires, so we'll have to check the type first.

Tires are important and expensive components of the vehicle and by taking suitable initiatives one could prolong the lifespan of such components. Tire pressure and tread depth should be inspected regularly as under-inflated tires with little tread depth couldn't generate better traction on the road surface as well as has negative influence on the fuel economy of the vehicle. So, tires with little or no tread depth should be replaced with suitable substitutes. Besides, tires should be properly inflated. For tire replacement contact

I think it would be a good idea for me to get new tires for both my car and motorcycle. I would love to get all season tires for my car. It would be nice to have something that will drive well in any type of weather. You never know when you might have to drive in extreme weather. It's nice to know this is the cheapest option too, like you said.

I do agree that specific tires should be utilized in the vehicle for the fulfillment of a specific requirement. One should use snow tires during the winter months. Snow tire could generate better traction on the snowy and slippery surface and enables the driver to get better control over the vehicle. Besides, tread depth of the tires should be measured regularly and tires with a little or no tread depth should be replaced with suitable substitutes. Information given in this article is really useful to select suitable tires for the vehicle. For more assistance from experienced professionals, visit

The tire is the only component in a vehicle that comes in direct contact with the ground. So it wears out frequently. So, we must take proper care of tires and insert the right sized tire in our vehicle. All season tires are best put in our car all through the year except winter season. Snow tires should be used in winter. We should check the tire pressure of the car with a tire pressure gauge and make the tires properly inflated. We must also measure the tread depth with a penny. The tires with little or no tread depth must be replaced.

I love what you said about all-season tires and how they inherently have better efficiency for long drives. When it comes to buying new tires, it's a great idea to work with a tire shop that has a prominent reputation. If I were to need new tires, I would make a sincere effort to find a tire shop that is known for their generous discounts.

Thanks for the tip that I have to replace my car tires if I use the penny test on them. I believe my tires are starting to get too worn out so they may have to be replaced soon. Since my brother's tires also show its tread bars already, I'll also tell him to go to an automotive service to have his tires replaced.

My brother has just bought a new car and needs to outfit it with new tires to make sure that it will run properly. He would really like to get some really fancy tires that are flashy and come from a professional. It was interesting to learn how performance all-season tires have a better grip than normal tires and how he might want to look into ultra-high performance because they are best for four-wheel drives that need high-performance rates.

I like how you said to think about preference. I'm getting new tires for my car because I need new tires, not because I want my car to perform better. In that case, I'll probably be better off spending less money on tires that'll serve their purpose.

I liked that you mentioned that you should figure out if you are going to buy tires based on your budget or the performance of your car. My sister told me that she has been thinking about getting a nitrous refill for her car, and she needs to figure out if that will work out with her current tires. She should talk to an expert about this to see how it would be beneficial for her.

It's good to know that different tires have varying functions and purposes, especially snow tires for snowy weather. We're getting ready to visit our relatives in Montana and want to make sure the car is ready to handle the trip. Maybe getting fresh tires that are rated for the conditions we'll be driving could help us stay safe.

I like how you mention that it is important to know your preferences when deciding on new tires and to make sure you do your research before you get new tires. My husband loves to drive and has been wanting to learn how to drive defensively as well by taking a driving course. I think we should find some high-quality performance tires before he does that to make sure the car is in performing condition and so he can learn safely.

Thanks for helping me understand that there are different types of tires. I'm about to get a Nissan Sentra and I've been looking around for any terminologies that I need to know as a first-time car owner. What you said about how there are all-season tires that are focused on performance is new to me. I'll make sure to take note if my car comes with it or if I can get an upgrade to those kinds of tires.

It was interesting to learn about how S- and T- can indicate the most practical pick of tires and they will work in most weather and last for a long time. My brother is having a hard time with his car and he could use some tires because his old ones are tearing apart. He would really like to get some from a professional so that he can be a lot safer and have more traction.

I recently bought my first car, and I'm looking for general information about tires and finding the right tire shop. I never knew that tire ratings exist, and I'm glad to know that. I will definitely ask the tire shop specialist about it once I need it, and find the one.

It's good to know that winter tires aren't rated but usually have a picture of a snowflake. My brother moved to an area with cold winters earlier this year and wants to get snow tires for his truck for peace of mind. I'll pass along this info so he knows what to expect when shopping for tires soon!
